Evidence-Based Practice and Policy Workshop
Learning Objectives
Learning objectives in both streams will cover self and group-selected EBPP concepts related to the risk of bias, interpretation of study results, and application of study results based on patient and public values and preferences.
Practice Stream
Participant Expectations for those who register under Practice Stream.
a. To understand common epidemiological concepts (e.g., interpreting relative risk, odds ratio, hazard ratio, absolute risk, confidence interval, critical appraisal of various study designs).
b. To advance skills in using the literature for quality assurance, improving practice, and judging comparative effectiveness of health care interventions.
c. To understand and describe the process of incorporating evidence-based practice into clinical practice.
d. To apply evidence-based clinical practice skills to real-world clinical problems.
e. To demonstrate ability to solve clinically oriented problems in an interactive problem-based small group learning format.
f. To identify high-quality evidence-based resources for the purpose of patient care and continuing education through independent learning.
Teaching Stream

a. To help learn how to teach EBPP using a variety of educational models in different settings, with different types of learners.
b. To understand and describe the process of incorporating evidence-based practice into clinical practice.
c. To advance participants’ evidence-based clinical practice skills.
d. To describe effective and interactive means of teaching small and large groups.
e. To identify high-quality evidence-based resources for the purpose of patient care and continuing education through independent learning.
